  1. How do I get started with Studio Etude?

  2. How does the design process work? 

Our process is highly collaborative and transparent. We don’t just design for you; we design with you. 

  • Discovery: We start with a deep-dive conversation to understand your needs. 

  • Collaboration: We use screen-sharing and frequent progress updates to keep you in the loop. 

  • Visualization: You won't have to "guess" what the result looks like. We provide 3D walkthroughs that allow you to explore the model from a human-eye perspective. 

  • Implementation: We guide you through every detail with care, ensuring the final result is exactly what you envisioned.

  3. What are the typical project milestones? 

While every project is unique, we generally follow a four-phase structure: 

  • Site Measurement: Assessing the physical space. 

  • Existing Conditions: Drafting the current state of the property. 

  • Design Development (DD): Creating and refining the new vision. 

  • Construction Documentation (CD): Preparing the technical sets required for building.

  4What does your price estimation entail? 

Our estimates are comprehensive, covering your project from the initial concept all the way through to the final permit approval. When we present a proposal, you will receive a total fee breakdown tied to specific project milestones, so you know exactly what to expect at every stage. 

  5. What is your fee structure? 

We typically work on a fixed-fee basis to provide our clients with budget certainty. However, for unique project scopes or specific consulting needs, we may consider hourly rates. 

  6. Are responses to department comments included in the fee? 

Yes. Our commitment to your project lasts from the start of design until the permit is issued. This includes managing and addressing comments or corrections from city departments. 

     What is NOT included in the Studio Etude fee? 

To maintain transparency, please note that our fee does not include "pass-through" costs or third-party services. These include, but are not limited to: 

  • Fees that are not related to our fee structure such as city fees. 

  • Consultant fees (Structural Engineers, Surveyors, Title 24 specialists, etc.). 

  • Printing and mailing costs.
